I replaced the heavily damaged black tolex with seafoam green; new feet, corners, handle, knobs and straps. Polished the faceplate as best as I could with polish, scratch remover etc. and replaced the red pilot light with a green one, which I thought looked best with the green tolex. I also have a blue and purple jewel; so I can switch between these colours and the original red, should I want to. The whole process took about 3 evenings and the hardest part was putting the chassis back in as this is what makes an amp heavy and it's very fiddly in regards that it gets blocked by each and every tiny obstruction. Also, it is held by two straps which come with very long bolts that go into holes you cannot see, so that will take some time. Generally replacing the tolex is rather easy, just have to make sure you have the exact measurements. With Fender amps it's easy as you can do it in four pieces for all sides, not in one long piece like for example with Marshall amps. Also, let the glue dry for at least half an hour after you apply it and for best results, add a second layer after the drying time. Corners are a bit tricky, but the easiest way is to make a 45 degree cut starting from the wood outwards and make sure you have enough tolex there of course, but not TOO much as you will run into trouble when adding the chassis back in - it will get stuck if a little flap of tolex curls up. I have had to cut little curly points over and over and eventually had to remove the grill in order to get it in. The grill is pretty straightforward. Get some grill cloth, measure it with enough to go all the way and some over the sides of the panel and just staple it. That is all. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to help Oh btw, be forewarned: grill cloth and especially tolex are more expensive than you think: tolex was about 30 Euro per meter, which comes down to like 45 Dollars. Grill cloth was 15 Euro, but that was because for some reason it was relegated to B-choice.Show more
